This concert is full of revelations. Opening with Beethoven’s own arrangement of his Piano Sonata Opus 14 No.1, it concludes with the Quartet in G by Emilie Mayer (1812–1883), the most prolific woman composer of the German Romantic period, whose work was greatly influenced by Felix Mendelssohn.
