Step into the serene surroundings of St Cuthbert’s Church, Norham, just across the river from Paxton House, for an intimate recital by renowned lutenist Toby Carr.

The great English Renaissance lutenist and composer John Dowland was celebrated across Europe as the ‘English Orpheus’. This programme traces his legacy in the works of Philip Rosseter, Daniel Bacheler and Robert Johnson, whose innovations led to new music of soft-edged delicacy and resonant beauty.

With its historic acoustics and peaceful atmosphere, St Cuthbert’s provides the perfect setting for this late afternoon concert, whether you are a devoted early music enthusiast or simply looking for a moment of tranquility.

Post-performance dining can be pre-booked at The Mason’s Arts, Norham (01289 382236).
