Tamsin Waley-Cohen was spellbinding at Duns Parish Church, the first external event for the festival, while the Kosmos Ensemble dazzled back at Paxton House
In the splendour of the Picture Gallery of Paxton House, the recital duo of Viktoria Mullova (violin) and Alasdair Beatson (piano) selected a mature and robust programme of three core works from two great Austro-German masters Schubert and Beethoven.
The Consone Quartet are in their second year as Music at Paxton’s Associate Ensemble, and my Edinburgh Music Review colleague Brian Bannatyne-Scott was very impressed last year with the distinctive sound of their period instruments with gut strings, and the lovely way they worked together.
