JKL Duo review

 The JKL Duo, Jacopo Lazzaretti  on classical guitar and Kerry Lynch on flute, bodhran and whistle, performed on Sunday June 1st to an enthusiastic and well pleased audience at this free “taster event”  for Paxton’s July festival of chamber music in that lovely venue with a good acoustic, the Picture Gallery in Paxton House.

The Consone Quartet are in their second year as Music at Paxton’s Associate Ensemble, and my Edinburgh Music Review colleague Brian Bannatyne-Scott was very impressed last year with the distinctive sound of their period instruments with gut strings, and the lovely way they worked together.

A Programme of British Song

The Picture Gallery at Paxton House is sold out for the first concert of this year’s Music at Paxton Festival. The Paxton Estate, like other parts of the eastern Borders, was severely hit by Storm Arwen and lost many trees, but the grounds are colourful with floral tubs, the Marquee is in place, and the Picture Gallery is back to full capacity last year’s very welcome, but still distanced events.
