Haydn ~ Quartet in E flat Op 33 No 2
Beethoven ~ Quartet in D Op 18 No 3
Mendelssohn ~ Quartet in E flat Op 12

No strangers to Music at Paxton, we welcome back this highly acclaimed, multinational quartet, whose unique sound is described in The Observer as ‘a shock to the ears of the best kind’. Their programme moves from Haydn’s chuckling ‘Joke’ quartet to the gentle lyricism of Beethoven Op 18 No 3 and Mendelssohn’s heartfelt Quartet in E flat, both early works showing remarkable maturity.

What better way to end our Festival, than with a performance by the Chiaroscuros!

“Playing gut strings is one thing; playing with much assuredness and golden musicality on them is another.” –The Scotsman
