Schubert ~ Die Schöne Müllerin

Described as ‘the current front runner in the new generation of Lieder singers’ (Gramophone Magazine), BBC New Generation Artist Benjamin Appl was one of the last singers to be mentored by the great Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. For this song cycle – considered to be one of Schubert’s most important works – he is joined by his regular collaborator, the distinguished pianist Graham Johnson, of whom Appl states ‘no-one is able to play Schubert in the way he does’.

“In dynastic terms the young German baritone Benjamin Appl is lieder royalty.” –Wigmore Hall, October 2017
